Workshop highlights and shared commitment
The workshop was organized by Rwanda Women, Adolescent and Child
Health Initiative (RWACHI) under the Our Rights, Our Lives, Our
Future (O3) programme, with participation and collaboration from
UNESCO Rwanda, the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the Ministry of
Education (MINEDUC).
It emphasized the importance of inclusive and accessible CSE,
accurate age-appropriate information, child protection, school
violence prevention, and meaningful youth participation. The
dialogue also focused on moving from policy commitments to
practical implementation in schools and communities, while
strengthening collaboration among health, education, child
protection, and youth development actors.
-
Ensuring CSE is inclusive and accessible to all learners,
including those with disabilities.
-
Providing accurate, age-appropriate and scientifically informed
sexuality education.
-
Strengthening approaches to school violence prevention and child
protection.
- Promoting meaningful youth participation and engagement.
-
Building stronger partnerships across health, education, and
child welfare sectors.
The workshop also created an opportunity for IHI to strengthen
relationships with partners working in related areas. IHI’s Deputy
Executive Director met with the Executive Director of RWACHI to
exchange perspectives on women’s, adolescent and child health, CSE
and child protection. IHI also connected with the leadership of
Health Promotion Organization (HPO) and a representative from
Impanuro Girls Initiative, creating space for dialogue on SRHR,
girls’ wellbeing, empowerment, and collaborative opportunities.
At IHI, we believe young people need access to accurate
information, supportive environments, and meaningful opportunities
to participate in decisions affecting their lives and wellbeing.
Our participation in this workshop reflects our commitment to
learning, partnership, and contributing to sustainable solutions
that promote the health, rights, safety and wellbeing of
communities in Rwanda.
